My First Post

I finally “renewed” my subscription for this website. For years, I have wanted to write. Perhaps I should have started a long time ago, because my writing skills are terrible, which I attribute to lack of reading, and of course, lack of writing. I am certain that my writing will start off as very basic; it will be palpable that lack vocabulary and capacity to expand upon my own thinking on deeper levels, however, I know that the brain is ________.. see I don’t know the word right now, but I remember reading …oh, elastic. Yes, the brain possesses the characteristic of elasticity, so I will keep writing, without remorse, or shame. One day, I will improve.

What are some things I want to write about? Well, several things, to be honest. My thoughts on religion, society, history, the arts, the self, occurences. Nothing and everything, without holding back.

Writing is a gift. The ability to write, is a gift. Wrtiing evolved into something that allowed people to share thoughts and occurences without limitations. Imagine if there were limitations on our thinking and our ability to expand upon our thoughts? We woulnd’t be the humans we are today. We’d be closer to animals with smaller brains.

There was a time when I was growing up when blogging was the norm. We wrote about everything. Without holding back.

Now, we live in a society where we have acquiesced to having to pretend nothing is wrong - that everything is perfect in our lives, and we reinforce it through social media. We omit the more gruesome, ugly, and even what we think* others will think are boring, just to become curators of a story line noone really cares about, and if they do, its because well, you successfully became a curator of a story for which you internally know isn’t the real, or isn’t the only you. It’s the you you want others to see. You want to feel like you’re happier. Wealthier. More loved. Experienced. I have grown so tired of this. The social media platforms we use are stripping us of our ability to think critically, to make genuine connections within our mind, reflect on our experiences, and so much more. I probably can’t think of the “more” because my own brain has been stripped of its ability to think deeply.

We have subjected our lives and experiences to just photos. Quick, two second images with captions - making us slowly lose the ability to listen to what someone is saying unless the captions are there, but the captions can’t be “too long,” let’s not forget that.

Well, pish posh. I am tired of this.

More for another day.

For now, it is time to go to sleep!
